Fixing Botched SMP – How We Repair and Remove Bad Scalp Micropigmentation
😟 When SMP Goes Wrong — You’re Not Alone
Fixing botched SMP can feel overwhelming — but you’re not alone. Scalp micropigmentation is life-changing when done correctly, but if you’ve had a bad experience, the good news is that it can be fixed. At SMP-Clinic, we specialise in correcting and removing poorly performed SMP to restore confidence and deliver natural-looking results.
🚨 What Does Botched SMP Look Like?
Here’s what we often correct:
- Pigment blow-outs – blurry dots where ink was implanted too deep
- Overly dark pigment – doesn’t match skin tone or natural hair
- Sharp or unnatural hairlines – too low, straight, or heavy
- Patchiness – uneven density or missing areas
- Old, blue-toned pigment – faded and discoloured SMP over time
✨ Our Correction Approach: Fix or Remove
At SMP-Clinic, we specialise in botched SMP and laser pigment removal, depending on what’s best for your scalp and results – https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/tattoo-removal/.
1️⃣ Consultation First
We assess your current SMP, your scalp condition, and your goals. From there, we recommend the right plan — either camouflage, removal, or both.https://smp-clinic.com/#contact
2️⃣ Blending & Camouflage
In many cases, we can fix the issue by softening and blending the existing SMP using our Au-Natural Technique. This involves layering ultra-fine pigment and rebuilding a natural hairline or density pattern.
3️⃣ SMP Laser Removal
If the work is too deep, dark, or poorly placed, we offer SMP laser removal — a safe, targeted method to fade or fully remove botched SMP.
💡 We’re fully certified in laser tattoo removal — giving you a trusted, one-stop solution.
4️⃣ Rebuild with Natural SMP
Once the pigment has faded or been corrected, we reapply the SMP properly, matching your skin tone, hair pattern, and facial structure for a hyper-realistic finish.
At SMP-Clinic, we take a personalised approach to fixing botched SMP, combining blending, feathering, and pigment removal based on your unique scalp and goals.
💬 A Client Story: From Harsh to Healed
One client came to us with a very dark, straight-line SMP that looked unnatural. After 2 removal sessions and 3 correction appointments, we transformed the entire look with a soft feathered hairline that suited him perfectly.

Hi, I had SMP carried out around 2019 and have always found that the line at the front looks too sharp making it look unnatural, is there something that can be done with this.

Paul
